Smak Deli Cafe

It is so refreshing to see something different in Gaffney! My husband and I came here for dinner, and were not disappointed! I had the chicken kabob, cabbage rolls, and vinaigrette salad. My husband had the mama's dumplings (pork), shurpa soup, and cabbage rolls. Cabbage rolls and dumplings come served with sour cream (delicious!) and the shurpa was very clean tasting with delicious veggies. Prices were very reasonable and the restaurant was very clean. The lady who took our order was very nice. The only complaint I have is service was a little slow since the lady was by herself and 2 other tables came in with a lot of questions. This is not a huge deal, and we will be back for sure! I would definitely suggest that the owners take down the bbq signs from the old restaurant since many people are not aware this restaurant is here. I believe taking down those old signs would bring in more business. Overall, we were very pleased with everything and I hope the restaurant does well!

Me and my friend are trucker. We stopped get diesel at qt, and have us some snack. But we saw this place and checked their menu we was surprised find some slav and central Asian food. We randomly get into there. We order soup which stuff (lamb, carrot, patoto, seasons) Tajik pilaf, chicken kebab tasty like smoked we loved it. stuffed pepper is huge and fille rice and meat. cabbage salad. We satisfied, portion was fairly enough to fill us, and price is reasonable, I can recommend everyone also trucker next time you guys eat some home cook food instead of deep fried staffs lol.

Owners was welcome, we ordered before sit, they served first soup and salad, then main course showed up.

One of my least favorite things about Gaffney is the lack of food options (it’s fast food or hardly anything, especially Saturday lunches). This place was phenomenal!

Is it in the old Granddaddy’s BBQ building with their signs still up? Well… yes

Is it called a deli, but is in fact Eastern European cuisine? Also yes.

Did I eat borsh, pilaf, AND cabbage rolls? Heck yes I did.

Did I beg my husband to go back tonight for dinner? Also yes.

Come on Gaffney! You eat the best doughnuts from a gas station. You love hotdogs from a truck. Please go eat Eastern European food from the bbq building. I’m desperate for them to stick around!

We first tried this food at a wedding that the owner had catered and were blown away. So when we found out he was opening his own restaurant, my family and I were really excited to come check it out. So far we've tried their banana crepes, chicken shaslik, rice pilaf, salad Oliver and Shurpa soup, all were just spot on in flavor and cooked perfectly - the soup was a first and a fave for me and I'd recommend that especially if you're looking to try something a bit more ethnic.
