Darlington Mercantile & Confectionary

We have visited a few times and I must say that we have really enjoyed it so far.

The ice cream may be the big attraction for most in this small town treasure, but what I’m absolutely loving is the fresh fruit and veggies in the plates we have ordered to go. The more color, the better, and “The Merc” is getting the job done RIGHT so far!
(Yes, those are muscadines in today’s plate!)
It is absolutely fantastic to be able to order healthy, FRESH, local food!

*We also tried the S’more’s in frappe form. As an avid daily Starbucks lover I’m impartial but I think it could grow on me. (Maybe add a domed lid with marshmallow whip, garnish with mini chocolate chips, and a little graham cracker crumble to give it that extra oomph).

We also have enjoyed some of the handmade soaps. We have purchased at least one of each scent and although the bars are small, they have great full and rounded scents that seem to last a reasonable amount of time. I’ll update this post and add more pics as we continue to try out the menu.
I definitely recommend dropping by. More important than the food or merchandise, the customer service is hometown-friendly and we love the cozy atmosphere.

The pimento cheese is delicious and was generously packed on my sandwich. I was allowed to choose the flavors in my banana split and loved the pumpkin. Every employee was friendly and helpful. There are lots of unique gift items to please anyone on your shopping list. I’m so glad I treated myself to a visit today!

Darlington has a jewel with this new shop. Great people with a unique selection of items. Also the best ice cream in town, Hershey ice cream.
