Chive Blossom Cafe

Limited menu but very good. Nice atmosphere and service.

We love the Chive Blossom...we've eaten there for years and the food and service is always top notch. However, tonight we were treated very rudely by the staff upon entering the restaurant for our 6pm reservations. We were a party of 10...6 adults and 4 children under 5. When we made reservations several weeks a go we said we wanted to sit outdoors so we would not disturb the guests inside, but were told that Chive Blossom does not take reservations for outdoor seating. So, they had us at a "high" table top right in the middle of the restaurant across from the bar...right in the high traffic pattern and it just wasn't going to work for us...and we felt for them. So we then asked if we could sit outside and were told flatly "NO!" After much consternation we were allowed to eat outside and had a wonderful meal with wonderful service from Peter. My advice to Chive Blossom...take reservations for outside. If the weather is bad, then the party will have to look elsewhere to dine. This should make it easier for them and their customers. Always awesome! Seafood platter is best ever. Fried green tomatoe sandwich is also. Love this place????????

Excellent Flounder dish with okra pancake!

Only suggestion I have is to invest in covers for the dishes so the carrier from restaurant to courtyard has food protected from debris.

I understand that 5 star restaurants receive their rankings based on food quality, ambiance, and service, however, I cannot give Chive Blossom 4 stars. The entrees are unique and exquisitely southern. It may not be a white tablecloth presentation, but the food preparation and unique recipes would be the talk of any NYC restaurant magazine. Good luck finding a restaurant of similar price and quality in Charleston. Not a chance.
