We had a great stay at 1912. We thought the house was really cool, we enjoyed learning about the history of the home and how it evolved through the years.

Service was great. Friendly and inviting, far better than any hotel. Breakfast was super as well.

Would definitely recommend staying here versus any of the hotels. Far better experience and service. Plus a five minute walk to downtown Sumter.

What a beautiful home! It really makes u feel like u stepped back in
time. Tommy & Tracey were gracious hosts, helping get our bags upstairs, and accommodating an earlier brkfast for us as we had an 8hr drive ahead of us. The brkfast was plentiful and the history lesson during it was cool too.
We only stayed overnight in the Blue room but it was HUGE and bed was SO comfy! So much thought was put into this home by T & T. The parlors and soft music playing in the eve was nice and very peaceful to sit on front porch. We will definitely come back when going through the area! VERY good value. U won't regret staying here. There r lots of steps if that is an issue with u...

1912 Bed and Breakfast is a top notch establishment in the heart of ‘Gamecock City’. Tommy, the hotelier who owns and operates this breath of fresh air (along with his wife, Tammy) in the East Midlands city of Sumter SC, has mastered the art (if not science) of genuine Southern hospitality. It was evident that this is a passion of his. Their slogan ‘A little bit more for a little bit less’ cannot be more accurate.

Although we did not have the pleasure of meeting Tammy, we were impressed by her generous offer of upgrading to a larger and more accommodating suite at no extra charge.

The inn itself is a masterpiece of well-maintained early 20th-century Southern architecture. As you enter the driveway from Warren Street, the lush green lawn welcomes you as you take in the luscious, flowery gardens on your slow passage to the property’s rear reclusive parking lot.
There is even a wrought iron gate that opens up to a serene, wooded walking trail at the lot’s rear.

The air of rest, respite and relaxation is omnipresent at 1912 B&B. If, for whatever reason you may have felt any stress or anxiety prior to your arrival at this stately manse, It should instantly melt away as you behold the majesty in front of you.

The interior of 1912 is roomy and well-appointed with plenty of period antiques. I accomplished some late evening reading in the downstairs reading room (which, by the way, I had all to myself!). The Palmetto state ghost stories I read were quite entertaining and the early century jazz music playing softly in the background almost made me feel as if I had gone back in time. Almost…

The impeccably clean room we stayed in was graced with a high ceiling, a large comfortable King-sized bed, a spacious tiled bathroom complete with a step-in shower and its own private lavatory room. One room even boasts a walk-out balcony overlooking the front lawn and porticoed grand entrance.

The breakfast was plentiful and left no one to wont for more. All items were freshly made, with delectable aromas enveloping the handsome dining room area. The camaraderie to be found in our casual conversations with the other guests at the breakfast table was unlike anything we had ever before experienced. I should note that private breakfasts are also offered for the more introverted among us.

Tommy made us feel so welcome, yet was never intrusive at all. The perfect host and gentleman he was. He remarked that, once you have stayed at the 1912, you are now ‘family’. I even struck up a continuing conversation concerning a certain famous, yet sadly, defunct, Canadian progressive metal rock band with early 70s origins of which we are both diehard fans.

In sum, if you are looking for a pleasantly wonderful and, might I say, not-too-pricey place to stay when visiting or just simply passing through the East Midlands region of South Carolina, you should RUSH to Sumter and overnight at the 1912 Bed and Breakfast. However, you will be certain to slow down once you arrive at this jewel of an inn.

This was our second year staying at 1912 with Tommy and Tracey. If you want an amazing experience, go here. Each morning you will have a suburb breakfast with the utmost attention from Tommy, Tracey and Cassie. They are readily available if you need anything, have questions, etc. They are easily accommodating as well. We truly feel at home each year we come here and we will keep coming back each Labor Day weekend. One of my favorite things is enjoying breakfast with the other folks staying. Thanks for sharing your home Tommy and Tracey!!

We absolutely loved staying at 1912 Bed and Breakfast! This was a stop on our way to Maryland and so glad we stopped here.

They are pet friendly which is awesome! We brought along our 14 lb dog Oakley with us and he loved it. They have a section near the parking lot where you can unleash your dog for them to play.

Tracey, the owner, is such a gem! She called a few hours before check in to confirm we didn’t have any dietary restrictions for breakfast. She also welcomed us with a quick tour of the home.

We stayed inside the Romance Room and it was just like the photo! The bathroom in this bedroom also had heated floors!

Moving forward, this will be our go-to BNB when traveling in the area!

    Thanks for the hospitality Tracey!
