Essence of Coffee

Best coffee/lattes in Rapid City. Food is great & service is super friendly. They’re dog friendly with lots of outdoor seating. Definitely a must try!

First time here and the staff was super friendly and patiently answered all my questions. The pastries are perfectly flaky and delicious. Great drink assortment as well! Got there close to closing so the kitchen was closed but I will definitely be back to try it sometime. Got the sausage roll, cherry scone, and custard tart.

This is one of our favorite spots in town and it probably has some of the best coffee in Rapid. Service is hit or miss at times. I usually have the apple sausage hash but without the apples (I am allergic and usually isn't a problem to have them removed), but when it's a busy morning, we will be told that it's all pre-mixed, which is a bummer. I understand that there are people who will lie about allergies just because they don't like a food, but I was really upset to get a fruit cup filled with apple chunks as a side for the wrap I got after sharing the allergy. Like I said, it doesn't happen often, but sometimes the service is hit or miss. Food and drink are good, I just wish it was consistent

This is my boyfriend's favorite coffee place in town. The service is pretty good and they are always busy which can make seating hard to come by. There is a big table in the front that should be replaced with a smaller table to allow room for customers who are standing in line to order and who are waiting for their drinks. It's awkward sitting at that table when people surround it while they wait to be served or place an order. They have a variety of food options and offer gluten free bread. This visit my boyfriend and I split the avocado toast and the biscuits and gravy. The food is good and the service is quick. They used to serve matcha and no longer do, which is a disappointment as my favorite drink from there was their lavender matcha. I do like that if you order food, they give you a number to set on your table and bring the food out to you. I've only eaten breakfast there, but they do serve burgers and salads for lunch and afternoon. In addition to the coffee, they also have a variety of loose leaf teas and some bottled drinks as well. The roasters are Australian and they do seem to try to provide items that match the season.

As an Aussie having spent 4 weeks in Rapid this place was awesome to have.

No hate on American coffee but if you're like me and miss our coffee back home then you won't be disappointed. I had the big Aussie burger and while they forgot the bacon, that thing was truly amazing

Just wish I'd discovered it earlier in my trip, not the day before leaving. Highly recommend this place!
