This quaint, rustic diner-esque establishment rests right off of Main Street and nestles perfectly into the bustling downtown scene. The couple who own and operate the restaurant, David and Teresa, provide top-notch, hospitable, countryside service and the absolute best breakfast in the greater Rapid City area. The restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday from 7 a.m to 11 a.m. There is a small gift shop area reminiscent of a Cracker Barrel and old-fashioned antique shop combined to further bolster the nostalgia and hometown feel factors. The food is seasoned perfectly, the dishes are very simple, yet pop with flavor and appeal, and the atmosphere could not be more welcoming. Many options are available for the kids, from French toast sticks to oatmeal and several others to round out the family-friendly dining experience. I highly recommend the Mud Bog, Mud Benedict, All Meat Omelet, biscuits & gravy and 2 egg breakfast. This is one of those rare small restaurants that leave you feeling phenomenal, fulfilled, and like part of the family. Such a treasure to stumble upon and one that instantly becomes a major player on the consumer food map. So, if you are looking for the best breakfast that Rapid City has to offer at a more than fair price, then you need not look beyond The Mud Hole of the Black Hills.
Food, service, and prices were great! A little hole in the wall cafe!
What a gem for me. This place is not for everyone, they have some antiques and tee shirts and such to buy. All kinds of seating from old diner booths to old school dinning room sets. I was fine.
The Mud Bug was just fine. 2 biscuits with a small omelet with potatoes on top. Add sausage patties next then cheddar cheese the biscuit top and covered with gravy.
It was very good. Staff is friendly. Come give it a try.
Best breakfast I've had in Rapid. Friendly owners, love the old Americana atmosphere
this is the kind of place that as soon as you walk through door, you know you’re about to eat some damn good food. very welcoming and cozy atmosphere, great prices, and amazing food! I’m glad this was the first breakfast place I found while traveling through. Keep up the awesome work!
