We went to the Belle Meade Plantation for the house tour and wine pairing. We had such an amazing time touring the grounds, house, and then the wine pairing was AMAZING. Our experience was fun, informative, relaxed, and so comfortable with the most delicious wines! We had such a great time that we decided to add on a bourbon tasting as well. Because if the wine was that fun... bourbon would take it to the next level. And it did just that. We spent the entire day there and enjoyed every second of it. Definitely the highlight of our trip to Nashville.
History. Always an amazing thing to revisit. Bonus was learning about the history of some of our famous horses and how they all originated from one horse: Iroquis. You do not have to pay to tour the grounds, but if you do partake of one of their tours, the monies go towards the continued restoration of the home and grounds.
Fun tour. Good wine. Did the house tour/wine tasting, and it was a nice couple hours. House has had a lot of effort done to assure period correct furnishings in the rooms. Also some very neat original pieces to the family. Wine was also very good, left with a few bottles after the tour.
Amazing experience overall. We went on the Segway Tour initially and then came back the next day for the house tour. Dalton and Mary Jane were both very knowledgeable and engaging tour guides. The wine tasting at the end was a great added bonus as well! I highly recommend coming here for the historical richness and the natural beauty of the estate.
While it is a very pretty place and the guide was knowledgeable, I felt like it was more a theme park business than a place where slaves died. I would like to see a more diverse staff and more organization support for African American causes like scholarships as a percentage of the proceeds you give.
