SS Gai is located inside the a small food hall known as the wash. When you arrive you have several options to choose from including a small cocktail bar.

I’ve been told multiple times that SS Gai was the best fried chicken that they have ever had. Not in Nashville (which has great fried chicken) but with a period.

It’s a limited menu but well done menu at SS Gai. Fried and grilled chicken are both served with veggies and sticky rice.

I have to agree that the chicken is phenomenal, and I really enjoyed making little lettuce wrap tacos and dipping them in the sauces that came with it.

For $14 for the 2 piece or $20 for the 4 piece I felt the food was a decently attractive value and I enjoyed the little patio while I ate. For $3 more you can make it spicy (but it’s really spicy) which I will probably skip next visit.

After ordering at the window they will bring your food to your table. Service was quick, the girl at the counter was friendly.

I would place the wash on a very short list of must try restaurants in Nashville. If fried chicken isn’t what you want there are other options available!

This whole location is so cute but the SS Gai specifically stands out. Best food that we had on our trip to Nashville, recommended by a pedicab driver. We ordered everything in the menu and ate it family style between the four of us.
Every side and snack and main was fantastic and i would recommend anybody in the city to come check out this spot.

The parking was okay, maybe offroad wheelchair accessible (gravel), extremely kid friendly.

I ordered takeout and this is some of the best Thai food I have had in a while. The grilled chicken was just like the chicken I had in Thailand. Everything was fresh, delicious, and balanced flavors. The spice is just right. I am so glad I found this place and it's in my neighborhood.

Reminiscent of a southeast Asian hawker market, this is a special place nestled away with a few other other booths serving authentic international fare (Peruvian; Vietnamese; Cuban; Mexican). The Thai fried and barbecue chicken are great and served with delicious authentic greens. A little more Thai spice in the chicken would be welcome, but this definitely compares to gai we had during our three years in Thailand. Sticky rice is fantastic and authentic. Fried mango sticky rice squares are sweet but delicious. Burnt coconut fantastic. Oh, and don’t forget to get your cocktails from the stall on the first corner as you come in.

The owners seem like such wonderful people! They were friendly and very passionate when speaking about their food. There is a reason they have 4.9 stars and its because this chicken is out of this world! I had their Gai Tod (fried chicken) and their Gai Yang (grilled chicken) all of which are on the bone, juicy, tasty and large portions!
The Thai tea was very good as well and I look forward to coming back again the next time I travel south.
The seating is outdoors too which was great since the weather was really nice. They have covered seating areas too so if you aren't a fan of the sun, you're able to sit there as well.
There is a parking lot but it requires a little bit of a walk, just to know, in the event someone in your party is handicapped. ♿️ Sidewalk is wheelchair accessible. Please be weary that the seating area is loose pebbles but otherwise comfortable seating.
