1885 Grill

We scheduled a group meal at 1885 Grill at 2:30 PM on a Thursday. Our group of 20+ was directed to the waiting room in the back of the restaurant as our tables were being prepared, the waiting room has several large couches and a big screen tv that is good for a large group to use as they wait. Once our table was set, our servers and the manager on duty did a great job taking care of our group. The food was superb, and the manager checked on us regularly. We chose to sit inside, but there is a really awesome outdoor patio available for outdoor seating. All in all, our experience was top-notch, and we look forward to our next visit.

Had the crab cake sandwich. It was okay but nothing to write home about. Lots of stuff hanging around socializing at the entrance. It was a little after 4 pm so maybe they were waiting around for the dinner crowd. Just seemed they could have been productive.

Great casual dining!! Our server Sadie was fantastic. I don't usually like fried food but the fried Flounder was light and tasted great. Glad to hear they are opening a second location in Cambridge Square which is closer to me.

First visit, we had the mushroom & grits, the steak frites and wings as an appetizer. EVERYTHING was delicious. How often can you say that when dining out? The wings are juicy and crispy and the Carolina honey mustard sauce was sweet and savory. So Damned Good. My grits were swirled with a lemony butter sauce and I loved the crunch and pop from the little fried capers.

Both the food and the service were excellent. I had the shrimp and grits, with half creamy grits and half grit cakes, based on the recommendation from our server Damien. It was a great choice and a perfect blend of textures and flavors. We will definitely be back to try out more of the menu.
