We love Altruda's! The food is amazing, atmosphere is relaxing and it's easy to have a conversation with one another. The salad is the best I've ever had! Go try it, you won't be disappointed!

Born and raised in the Bronx, N.Y. and basically raised by Italians, I crave my spaghetti and in the 4 1/2 years I have lived in East Tennessee I have searched in vain for a decent plate with good tasting gravy ( sauce to locals) to no avail. Being elderly we are very rarely in town in the evening, till circumstances caused us to be near Kingston Pike and N. Peters Rd. and we saw the opportunity to finally get to try Altruda's. I was in heaven. In the past month we have been there 3 times and it is consistently great and the best this side of N.Y. and New Jersey. I'm hooked. Great food, great service, great ambiance. If I could rate it a 10 I would.

First time eating at Altruda's. Customer service was wonderful and the food is delicious. When visiting our son at UT we will definitely be eating her again.

Yesterday was my birthday so hubby asked me to choose anywhere. I felt like Italian food and we had been here once before and had an amazing meal, so I wanted to go again. The only problem is, I'm now gluten sensitive. Hubby checked the online menu and didn't see any gluten free pasta options, so he called to double check. They confirmed that they don't but they said that I could bring my own gluten free pasta and they would cook it for me into one of their dishes! That was so great! It was perfectly cooked (gluten free pasta cooks differently than standard pasta) and, naturally, combined with their meat and sauce, was just as amazing! Their salad is always super delicious, and the atmosphere can't be beat, with its soft lighting and excellent music! The service is among the best I've had; not over-zealous nor prone to waiting too long between table stops. I was aware of how they waited on the tables around us, not just our table. They are all well trained in hospitality, and the expectations from the owner. The portions are more than ample, and we always have leftovers. If you get a chance, go here! Beats the pants off of chain restaurants any day!

Had dinner for the first time here and the food was great. The fresh made salad is amazing. The rolls were also very good.
I had Alfredo with spinach and it was very good. Very rich tasting. They do however make it with spiral noodles. My husband had the lasagna and it was very good. I did not give it 5 stars because the price. Very expensive, each dish was $20+ dollars.
