Crust is crispy, sauce ok, the cheese goes on after and was cold and not melted. Not enough pepperoni and also cold. This is their style but not ours. Wouldn’t return -
Recently have visited twice and have enjoyed each time. The first time I was wondering why the pizza came out without the cheese melted and the pepperonis were cold and then I learned they bake the crust and the sauce and then add the cheese and pepperonis on after. The first time we had a good bit of cheese that was not even remotely melted but today’s visit was different! The cheese was melted way more than the last visit. The prices are very reasonable and we will definitely once again be back! The little dining area has been clean both times as well! I also like the fact that they use provolone cheese instead of mozzarella and it is 100% fresh cheese! Definitely an added little gem to the downtown area!
I really enjoyed this place. Just know going in that it is a much different pizza experience. The dough and sauce are baked, but the toppings are put on after the baking and are cold. It isn't for everyone (my wife hated it), but if it is in your wheelhouse, you'll love it.
The prices are very reasonable, and the portions are large for what you get (6 slices for $15). It's got a nice atmosphere with a few tvs and clean dining area inside. The staff was very friendly, but I did feel like the wait time was a bit long since we were the only ones there, and it took quite some time to get our order.
I'll definitely return as I really liked the unique style and take on pizza. Give it a shot if you're in the area, and you may just be pleasantly surprised.
Different and delicious.
I've long been aware of this restaurant's other locations well north of Knoxville and their unusual coal-miner style tray pizza, but have never been in the area of eastern Ohio/WV panhandle to try it.
It might be one of the last remaining pizza styles I haven't tried, it's certainly one of the least common.
I recommend setting your expectations aside and just enjoying this pizza for what it is: different but delicious.
I tried a couple slices the first time, and had to go back the next day to get six more.
Best eaten right when they give it to you, to best enjoy the contrast between the hot crispy crust with delicious sauce and the cool shredded smoked provolone and pepperoni.
The one area of improvement needed is beverage selection. What they have now is very limited and odd choices. I would have loved to have had a coke zero to go with my meal.
(please note: the hours in my photo are not the hours they are currently open as the business gets staffed up. I recommend calling first to check current hours of operations.)
