This is 100% the place to eat if you are in the area or passing through. Great food and great prices.
When I entered the restaurant, there were 3 wait staff standing at the back. No one acknowledged me for about a minute. I was told to sit where I wanted. I was given a menu and I ordered a hot tea. Two wait staff sat at a table talking while the 3rd was occupied with cleaning. Only one other table was occupied. I almost left money for my tea because it took several minutes for someone to take my order. The sides were good - coleslaw and okra. The main was their special of chicken and dumplings and lacked a lot to be desired. The dumplings were cool in the middle and the gravy had an herb taste that I don't normally associate with chicken or dumplings. The thing that stood out to me the most was there was no joy in the restaurant among the employees. Everyone, from front of house to back of house, seemed to just be there for the job, not for the joy of cooking or serving. There were no smiles or laughter. I probably won't go out of my way to go there again.
Small town - Big pulled pork sandwich.
Angie's Kitchen is now on my list. I had the pulled pork (large) sandwich. It was great. Lots of meat. I also had a sample of the pot roast - Oh my, it was delicious. The restaurant is local and quaint. My new Loudon Lunch spot.
Do you have a menu “Like” threshold? For me if I see three or more items on a menu that really interest me, my likelihood of returning to the restaurant definitely increased. “Angie’s Kitchen” has a very, very good menu. There are a half dozen items that I want to try. So far, I have tried three. Each was good, inexpensive and ample quantity. In addition to the menu items, check out the sides you can choose from. Once again, a winner in terms of multiple good choices. Friendly prompt service, along with good food. My favorite so far, “Tommy’s Catfish Sandwich” with a side of Pinto Beans with Chow-Chow. Give them a try.
