Great taste, good service, staff friendly,
Probably one of the most authentic Vietnamese places in Memphis! Definitely worth stopping by!
Ông Câu is not your regular Asian takeout spot.
When we walked in, the place was nicely decorated and clean. We sat ourselves and were brought water menus by the owner, which were in Vietnamese and English. There were a lot of options to choose from, but we had never tried Vietnamese food before so we had a lot of questions. Uncle was really helpful and answered everything we asked in detail, and offered his own suggestions for newbies. He also didn’t mind at all when we asked for changes to fit dietary restrictions—everything was pretty customizable.
The food was out quickly, and there were lots of extras to put in it (sauces, peppers, lime, bean shoots, etc.). I’m honestly a really picky eater but everything I tried blew me away. I ordered the chicken noodle soup, which came with green onions in it. I tried it the way it came first—the broth was really flavorful and the noodles had a really nice texture (he said they’re made with tapioca). My partner had a beef combination noodle soup, which had tons of different cuts of meat in it (meatballs, brisket, etc.). He really enjoyed his too, especially with the sweet and sour sauce. Also, the portions were really nice and we had enough to take home for later.
Overall this place really charmed us. We hadn’t even heard of it or read any reviews before, but I’m glad we stopped by. The owner was really personable and made the whole experience even better. It was also nice to get a little taste of another culture in the middle of Cordova! Uncle said they’ve only been open 6 months, so if you want to support a local small business and try some delicious food, you should definitely come by.
The pho here is very authentic and delicious. The combination sandwich is also very tasty. The service was very good. I would recommend this place if you are in the area.
1st Review! I finally made it mom, I'm a trend setter, a trail Blazer! ????
I love culture authentic food. So anytime I find a place like this, I get super excited.
The decor is typical Asian, nothing fancy. I talked to the owner, and he is super friendly.
The service was fast and the food was fresh, and tasty. I had the Bun Bo Hue, the meat was tender, the shrimp perfectly cooked, the slaw sweet which was a perfect offset to the salty dipping sauce. Overall it was a great meal.
Pros: Large portions, Fast service, Fresh food,Friendly service.
Cons: Price is a little higher than the normal lunch fare, the area behind the bar is a little messy looking. They need a better storage area. Outside of that I don't have much to say.
