HAM BONZ Soul Food

Owner and son are amazing people. Great food. Great place. Loved the smothered poke chop, candied yam, collard greens, green beans, cornbread, macaroni & cheese, and house wine. Totally recommend them all!

The food wasn’t fast but it was good. Locally owned. Location isn’t the best and I sure would hate to see this place not make it because of that.

It was A LOT of food for the price and it sure was tasty. Wish they had dessert tonight for us to finish off the meal.

Don’t be shy to try! Give them some grace due to being short staffed.

We had heard good things about this place, but didn't know what to expect.

Man. We just waddled out of there with VERY happy bellies. Hubs had the smothered pork chops with collard greens. Both were excellent. Pork chop was tender & flavorful. He said the collards were the BEST he has ever had and he's a southern boy.

I had the fried chicken & mac & cheese. The fried chicken was the BEST I'VE EVER HAD! Not kidding. Super crunchy coating & well seasoned chicken. Gordon would be impressed. Mac & cheese was creamy & delicious.

All served with homemade cornbread with honey butter. Just go already!! You too can waddle out with a happy belly. 😀

Undoubtedly the best meal we have had in Bastrop! We moved here from Atlanta, Georgia in 2021. We love Texas and all the Mexican and BBQ options but we have been missing soul food. Thank you Ham Bonz!
We both had the fried pork chops, they were great and we look forward to trying the fried chicken and meatloaf. Mac & cheese was good and those collard greens were perfect. Definitely don’t skip the Mofo Cone Bread, you need it to sop up the pot likker from those greens! Best candied yams I have ever had, I will crave them from now on!

It was so nice to come to a restaurant that tasted like the best home cooked soul food it ever had. Everything we tasted was delicious! I personally had the Braggin' rights baked chicken. The chicken was tender fall off the bone perfectly seasoned. Candied yams tasted like dessert and the green beans were delicious with shredded pork. Highly recommend this place!
