Best Korean food in San Antonio.
Food was great, I would definitely come back.
They’re currently posted up at The Block, and as the name implies, there are plenty of bulgogi items available here.
You can get 4 bulgogi street tacos for $5. Most food trucks are pricey, so I consider this a good value for $5 and they were very filling. The corn tortillas they were served on were hot, fresh, and very tasty. Topped with cilantro, feta cheese, fresh cabbage, a light dousing of sriracha sauce AND a spicy mayo. All the toppings made these tacos a flavor bomb, but it detracted from the flavor of the bulgogi meat. I’m not saying I wouldn’t get these again, I’m just saying that the bulgogi deserves to stand out just a tad bit more.
I also ordered the Yaki Mandu - six chicken dumplings with a sweet spicy dipping sauce for a total of $6. This was the best item ordered from this food trailer. They were awesome!
After letting my food digest and playing giant Connect Four for a while, I found myself back at this food trailer. That’s when I ordered the Bulgogi Fries ($8). The bulgogi in this dish was much more flavorful because it wasn’t covered up by everything else. Although the flavor of the bulgogi stood out in this dish, the fries weren’t the best, and the combination of the other toppings just didn’t mix well with the fries. The toppings were good, and they were fresh, they just don’t belong on fries in my opinion. I’d take a pass on this dish in the future.
All in all, the Bull Gogi Boys have a good thing going. Don’t let this review scare you away. I’d try the street tacos again, and definitely the dumplings. I’m just not sold on the fries.
