“First I’d like to say how wonderfully pleasant the owners are, I’ve gotten food here a couple of times and they have always greeted me with a smile. I’ve once pulled into the parking lot as the owners were locking the door for the day and they still offered to get me something from the fryer. I love breakfast foods so I’ve personally only had the breakfast items and it is always delicious. My bf has had their cheeseburger and he really liked it, which says enough cause he’s a pretty tough judge of food. I’d say this restaurant is a prize for Hooks, TX and I’m happy to support a new family owned business, especially in these trying times. I’d encourage everyone to support, and give them a try! As I understand it they are still playing with the times and menu as business picks up and seasons change so call ahead to confirm times and or menu items!”

“Did a ten hour break here. I ordered the half slab ($15.00). The meal included potato salad, baked beans, two slices of bread and two small cups of BBQ sauce. They do have drinks available for purchase. I’ll start with the ribs. They were very moist, tender and great smoke flavor. A bit on the salty side but the bark and the moisture blend the salt nicely. The ribs have no dry rub. It’s different from Kansas City BBQ and refreshing to the taste buds. The temperature of the ribs was spot on. Really good portion for half a slab and I felt I got my money’s worth. I alternated between eating a plain rib and then drenching a rib with the BBQ sauce. It was so good! Now the two sides. The baked beans were hot! Temperature wise. I like food when it’s meant to be served hot and baked beans, in my opinion, should always be served this way. The potato salad was cold and seasoned well. It had the right balance of Mayo and a splash of mustard. It also married well with the main choice of meat. Overall the meal was great. The food is fresh and the service was fast. I was the second person in line and didn’t wait long for my order. This little hole in the wall is literally right off the highway across from the truck stop. All I had to do was walk over and place my order. They take plastic as well as cash. I will definitely be back to try your chicken and other meats. Great job and a spot on place to have customers come to you.”

“I am addicted to Sonic Drive - In as my fast food go to, for whatever the reasons. I could be partial to them because as a teenager they were my first start up job. Nonetheless, I Love their food!!! I absolutely love the onion rings and the hamburgers. I do however miss the malts. I love the taste of the malted powder. But I will still frequent it if I want a quick fast food grab!”

“Food was okay. Rolls were very good. Cornbread had an overpowering flavor of baking powder. I had fried catfish. It was okay. I prefer light breading and this was hard, which obliterated the flavor of the fish. Hubby had chicken fried steak and said it was really good. Sides were pretty good. I had pinto beans and salad and he had fried okra and creamed corn. Service was great. Employyes were friendly, efficient and very helpful. Biggest surprise was the Confederate Flag logo that is still on display. Please remove that!”

The owner actually came out from behind the stove to check on every single table to make sure that everything was made to satisfaction! Very down to earth hometown feel as soon as you walk in the door! And did I mention that the food is amazing!! Grilled shrimp on a bed of rice with mashed potatoes and a side salad was my meal. Chicken fried steak (regular size) with mashed potatoes and gravy and pinto beans for my husband's meal. ****THESE PINTO BEANS ARE THE BEST I'VE EVER TASTED!!!!!**** And we cannot forget the wonderful fried pickles for our starter!! (The picture of the fried pickles was actually taken after we had already eaten half of the basket. What can I say? We were hungry and there were very, very, very good!!!!) This is a definite must go to restaurant!!!!!!!”
