It was good and prices are reasonable. Different name these days - Alvin's Restaurant
Great service, amazing (and filling!) food and a great atmosphere. It's right off 6, so it's convenient whether you're passing through Alvin on your way to Galveston or if you're a local looking for a new foodspot. I also personally recommend their coffee for anyone tired of watered down excuses from everywhere else.
Go for the food and stay for the coffee. Or just go for the coffee. Win/win either way. My first visit I had bistec (steak) sandwich and Maggie's 3-shot Cuban coffee made just perfect.
If you want Mexican food go elsewhere, you won't find that here. If you want fresh delicious Cuban food that is far from ordinary, give this a try. I know I'll be going back.
Decided to try this new restaurant in Alvin. When you pull up you immediately notice the Cuban heritage items flying outside.
The atmosphere was a quaint place with about 8 tables but was very clean. Don't let the size fool you, it's only a sampler of the taste of a great home town treat you are about to experience.
Once you open the menu you realize this is Cuban food and not Mexican. The menu is not large but is reasonable for the size and location.
Now for the icing on the cake- the food was fresh!!! The food was clearly not out of the freezer or microwave. This was good clearly made that day or during the actual order and was very fresh! I am literally talking 'HOME MADE!'
The owner came to meet our table and in inquired about the food and was informed that she comes in early in the morning to prep her food for the day.
What a refreshing pleasant experience. It's not often that you can come across a place that takes pride in the food, however there was no mistaking this one does.
I will most definitely be back and if you want a menu idea to order- try the Cuban.
Great sandwiches! My son had the Cuban sandwich it was great. I had the the streak sandwich yummy yummy. The owner came out to greet us she was really sweet. She gave us fried plantain to try. Delicious!
