Really wanted to love this place given the cool atmosphere but the food was just mediocre. The himachi crudo and tuna both tasted fine but not overly fresh. Bacon and broccoli salad was pretty good but nothing special. We almost sent the antarctic butterfish back because it tasted like it had gone bad. The shortribs were the best thing we had but unfortunately overly fatty. Finally, the hibiscus marshmallow chocolate cake looked really cool but it was dry. It may have just been the night we were there but I was hoping for more. I'd stick to Christopher's for upscale dining in college station

Poppy’s was nice. We went on a Saturday, wasn’t super busy. We were greeted at the door by a hostess and promptly shown to a table. The server came fairly quickly and filled our water while he told us about the restaurant. “Farm to table” style is how it was described. We ordered the rabbit confit and the melon salad to start. Both were very good. The server, Jose, was present without being overbearing, which was nice. The main courses came. My wife ordered their mackerel and I ordered the quail. The mackerel was nicely prepared with a nice little spicy cilantro sauce and some squash decoratively places on the plate. A lot of good flavors there. My quail was a little underwhelming. The taste was great, but it was just not enough. It was two legs and the breast of one quail, and what looked to be about 2.5 1 inch potatoes. The flavor was great, and the quail was tender and juicy. The sauce was really good, but like I said, it just wasn’t enough. It was a good thing we ordered the first course.

All in all, it was a good experience, but one that may remain a memory. The service was great, and the food tasted wonderfully. This, however, is offset in my opinion by the small quantity of food.

Amazing food!! We tried pretty much all the menu since the portions are small and we were a group of 4, so you get to try different things.
Every single dish was delicious,, definitely worth every single dollar!
we can’t wait to go back and try the Brunch! I’ve heard is really good as well..

Do yourself a favor and enjoy some delicious food/drinks. Highlights were the Millie mule, quail, and great service!

This is a great place to eat some awesome food! They have a great atmosphere. Menu is small, simple, and progressive. Poppy is ahead of the curve for College Station...not your typical sit down restaurant.
