Loved my visit to the Starlight. I was expecting a line into the parking lot at 4pm but it was very chill on a recent Saturday night. There wasn't even a line at 5 when they opened, just several parties kind of standing around. Everyone took their turns walking up to the hostess and in the end there weren't even enough people to fill the restaurant at opening.
While you still have to wait in line to sit at the bar, normally the wait is much less and you might be able to get right in. So pro tip, just eat the bar. It's more fun there anyway as you can chat with the bartenders and locals.
The salsa and guacamole combo appetizer is a must. Then I say opt for the country fried antelope. I mean, where else are you going to get antelope? It was delicious. The steak sandwiches was also really tasty.
There's live music as well which starts at 6pm. Unsure if it's every night or just on the weekends.
There's also a Cantina around the corner to the right where you can enjoy a drink before the restaurant opens.
Beautiful views, good music, cold drinks while we waited to be seated. We got here at 8pm on a Friday night and waited 2 hours, which we expected. Outside there is a cantina with a bar and appetizers you can order while you wait. We had brisket nachos, margaritas, beer, ranch water and all was great. Once inside we ordered chicken fried antelope. Food was tasty, cooked just right, fast and friendly service, nice ambiance.
Best bar in town. Went on Saturday at 5:30, as they get extremely busy, late in the evening. Drinks, food, and service are excellent. Authentic Texas style music started at 7, and made for a fantastic vibe. Restrooms are outside by the jail, and are a little tricky. Nice Texas type store is next door, if you arrive early Recommend
We were in line by 4:15 but still were told we would be in the second seating. It was spring break and there were several large parties ahead of us. They only have 15 tables. We got a drink from the cantina and went next door to shop and kill time. The store has a great selection of merchandise. As we were walking back they were calling us - we got the last table for the first seating! Our waiter Ben was very helpful. The fried Brussels sprouts he recommended were outstanding. My husband had the chicken fried antelope and I ordered the French dip. Everything was prepared well and served hot. A local musician played guitar and sang while we were eating. We brought home enough food for one of us to have another meal! We talked with a couple who were arriving as we were leaving around 6:30 and they later told us they couldn’t get on the list as they were full for the night.
Drinks are good. Food is okay, not amazing but a good meal. Quick service and friendly staff.
