Purchased a one meat plate with 2 sides. The portion of meat in the picture speaks for itself. I had 5 bites and it was gone. The meat vs sides is way out of portion, 20 bites of sides vs 5 bites of meat.
I asked for moist cut, unfortunately there was spots where it was very dry and spots where it was very moist. The BBQ sauce was overpowering and masked the entire flavor of the brisket. The coleslaw was fresh and crunchy but didn't have any unique flavors to set it apart from the normal. The potato salad was creamy and delicious. All in all I would say it's good but not great.
I loved everything about this place. Their ribs are fall of the bone delicious and the beans have a perfect smokey flavor. If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend.
Not sure where to start with this review. Whether it's the welcoming relaxed atmosphere, the business owners and staff or the most amazing food imaginable the experience was perfection! So far since opening day I've eaten there multiple times, the food and service has been consistant.., FABULOUS! My favorite, (only because I've not tried anything else yet), the chopped beef sandwich, potato salad and the mac-n-cheese is the best by far of any I've experienced elsewhere. The tender and juicy chopped beef is complimented with the perfect amount of sauce and is almost too big to finish but then you do. The uniqueness of the potato salad is beyond desription, you just HAVE to try it. The mac-n-cheese was what mac-n-cheese is supposed to be, warm, cheesy and satisfying. Portions are generous and fairly priced. The owners, a husband and wife team with years of experience in the art of "Texas BBQ" clearly know their business and the proof is displayed throughout the restaurant. I will absolutely be returning and look forward to sampling everything on the menu eventually. Highly recommend.
Located on Hwy 29 just before Sonic on the right hand side heading towards Llano from Bertram, this classic Texas style barbecue joint literally makes your mouth water when you walk in the door.
I've had the ribs, the brisket, and the chopped beef so far. I particularly like the chopped beef because it's loaded with delicious sauce. It tastes great, servings are generous (were talking big buns, not English muffins size) and they don't hide big chunks of fat in it like I've often seen at other barbecue places.
The banana pudding is also delicious. Honestly, everything I've tasted on the menu is fairly addictive, and the beans are KILLER. These are cooked to tender, just enough spice, nice thick gravy, old style pintos.
I'm glad I live close enough to make this restaurant a regular habit. Definitely recommend.
FINALLY FOUND OUR BBQ HOME. We moved back to the Hill Country about 18 months ago from Fayette County. We've been looking for a superior BBQ joint all this time. We have finally found it! This BBQ is made fresh by a certified BBQ champion competitor. There is just the RIGHT amount smokiness to tickle the tastebuds but not leave you with a taste that "repeats" on you hours later. The pork ribs are plump and bite perfect. The brisket is well seasoned with a distinct smoke ring with well developed and seasoned bark. The sides are all made in house. They are open on Firday, Saturday and Sundays from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
