El Fenix Mexican Restaurant

I grew up loving El Fenix. This one in Mesquite has super nice staff. I've never had any major problems with the food.. and when I did have a little problem (my fault because I'm picky) they fixed it quickly and were very kind. I don't think they have a single bad dish, but if I had to suggest one, go for the enchilada and tamale plate.

I live close to another well known "Jamaican" establishment in Dallas, but I drive the few extra miles. Never disappointed (as I have been at the other place.... I won't name). Serving size never leaves me hungry! Olive Garden was far too crowded with a long wait time, so I "eased" into this nice restaurant for a change of pace. The service was excellent, the food was great and the prices were very fair. If you are staying in the Mesquite area and want a good place to sit, relax and feast, I encourage you to visit El Fenix Famous Mexican Restaurant. Great place for a Mexican Meal and Dessert !! This one very clean great staff!! Our server Sammy was super kept the glasses full and Margaritas coming! Thank you too HIM! Also the Fajitas were Great and there new Fiery Queso was also good! Seems like there food is getting better!

Update 6/13/19: I was emailed by two different upper-level people with sincere apologies and I have changed 2 stars to 3. I will be trying this location again and give them another chance. Thank you!

I haven't been to this location in many years and stopped by last night with my husband. The person that took my drink order told me about the specials and said there was a $19.99 special (still in the menu). The margaritas were on special and had a large amount of lime in them to where we couldn't taste much else. We had a different server and pointed to the special when ordering. He did not indicate that the special had ended. When we went to pay, they had charged full price and we were told the special ended the day before. Luckily, the cashier decided to give us the special price. The reason I am writing this review is more about the service. I rarely leave restaurant reviews but the service was extremely slow last night. I never got offered a refill, didn't get checked on once our food was delivered, and had to ask for several things on my own. Most places I go to take care of all of that. I was quite disappointed at how long it took us to get wrapped up and out of there and I pretty forgiving with restaurants when they are busy. The downtown location is my favorite. I don't know if I will be back to this one but hope it was just an off night.

Amazing as always! Never a bad experience here. Amazing food! Awesome Margaritas! Wonderful service! Affordable pricing....you can't loose.

We totally love this El Fenix. We are not from the Dallas area, but had visited the downtown El Fenix a couple of months ago and the food was excellent, but the house margarita was lacking. At this El Fenix we opted for the Inca Gold margarita and it was great. I had the Mexican Dinner and the taco, enchiladas, tamales, bean, and rice were all first class. We had a group of 11 and everyone enjoyed their meal. We Love El Fenix.
