really good food, friendly owners and staff. they always make sure you are satisfied. portions are more than enough.
Even though I put 4 stars, it’s closer to 4.5 than it is 4. I got the fish and shrimp platter. It was hot and fresh and the shrimp was the best part. For the amount of food they give you, $18 is a reasonable price to charge for the meal. The only issue was the fish was slightly undercooked. Other than that, it’s a great place to try.
This restaurant is doing what has been missing from mainstream affordable American cuisine: authentic food, friendly service, and affordable pricing. This picture is their shrimp and fish plate with dirty rice, house sauce and tartar sauce. The restaurant chef actually came out and conversed with the customers about the food. He mentioned he was thinking of bringing blue crab back with him from Louisiana to feature on the menu. Top notch customer service.
The shrimp was lightly battered and had enough Cajun seasoning to bring flavor but not too much heat. Juicy and tasted fresh. The fish had a little heavier Cajun seasoning, juicy and flaky. The dirty rice was packed with flavor and a bit more heat. The food was absolutely superb.
I think the only part I missed was the homemade tea, as the tea is a Lipton tea stand dispenser.
I can't recommend this place enough! Get away from the fast food chains and hit this place up! Dallas has a hidden gem!
The gumbo and burgers were TOP TIER. It was so delicious I had gumbo catered for a gathering I had the next day. Even though it was a last minute request, they accommodated me and it was ready on time!! My guest enjoyed the food as well.
Definitely a dedicated customer. From one Louisiana native to the next THANK YOU for bringing a piece of home to Texas....
The Parkers
We ordered the fish and the shrimp PoBoys with dirty rice and hush puppies. Service was great. Food was great— More than we could eat! The owners/managers/cooks came to check on us and were super friendly. Skip the chain restaurants and support the dreams of local business owners. Enjoyed our experience.
We shared the fish and shrimp platter and had plenty left over to take home for snacks! And for that much food the price was very reasonable. It was very freshly cooked, and flavorful. Not too spicy for me, just enough to enjoy the flavor. Only drawback was that they don't have their tea and soft drink station going yet, so canned beverages were the only option. Otherwise, a pleasant experience with good food and lovely people who own it. They were very nice, came out to the table to make sure we were happy. Best wishes for lots of success!
