LOVE their salsa and chips. Awesome little restaurant. Really liked their Tampiquena!! In the words of my wife “DELICIOUS!” Here for the WAC Volleyball Tournament and plan on going back for lunch and dinner tomorrow😁

Last minute decision and we arrived an hour before they closed. Wife had the almond chicken which was pretty tasty, I had the fajita tacos which were hot off the grill. The only reason they didn't get the 5 stars is that the flour tortillas were a tad bit rubbery. I attribute that to it being late. We'll be back a little earlier next time.😁

First the good: the food was very good. I was staying at a hotel next door and there weren't many options in walking distance so decided to try. I called and ordered to go. I ordered the Moonlight plate, which had 2 cheese enchiladas (very good, red sauce was very mild but tasty, yellow cheese, cooked well), two chicken flautas (good pieces of chicken and not greasy or overfried), rice (very good red rice, and 2 sopes. Good amount of food for the price. Cute little family feel. The only reason I am taking off a star is because of the guy at the front, when he was at the front anyway. I entered and stood at the desk for several minutes before anyone came. There was a waiter in a red dress shirt busily attending to all the tables. Finally a guy in a t-shirt and ball cap comes, doesn't really greet me, but I tell him I'm here to pick up. He is talking on the phone with his airpods it seems the whole time. Then he answers the restaurant phone and talks on that, too. Nothing to me, like " excuse me one moment, etc". He goes and gets my food, then gives me the receipt to sign. Then leaves to the back without saying anything at all. Who does that? I left a tip because I always do (probably shouldn't have) but then noticed I didn't get a fork or napkin. I wait a while for the hat guy to come back. Finally I go up to the table area where the busy waiter sees me and asks me what I need. He goes right away to get me silverware and says thank you have a good night, very nice. He was great, the other guy was horrible. That is not a way to treat customers. I felt ignored and like I was bothering him and interrupting his phone calls. I did like the food, though.

🌮 The search continues. I’ve been struggling to find good Mexican food in the area. The quality of this food was fresh but not my taste. The server was very nice. He spoke English clearly and made sure we received what we asked for with our personal modifications. The rice was good.

🧅 I ordered chicken fajitas and the chicken was good (not that frozen mechanically separated chicken you see everywhere else) but the peppers & onions were practically raw. I need them nearly caramelized. I’d rather them be burned than raw. 🫑 I also prefer sweet red bell peppers over bitter green bell peppers.

🧀 The cheese options though: no, no, no… American cheese & Italian mozzarella? 😣 I need shredded cheddar with Mexican food even if it’s mixed with other cheeses such as Asadero & Monterey Jack. When you go to the grocery store and get “Mexican style” shedded cheese it’s usually a combination of those. The only foods I like American cheese with are burgers & grilled cheese (American food). This is supposed to be authentic Mexican food 😬 The cheese really ruined the whole meal for me. If you order queso dip, it is melted American cheese 😑 I recommend mixing 50/50 with the salsa and then it taste good. The salsa was good by itself too. It has the right amount of spicy for me. I would consider it medium spicy.

🫓 The tortillas were too thick. They were similar to flatbread or pita bread. The taste was dominating over the ingredients in my fajitas because of the thickness.

🍋 The lemonade had way too much sugar. I felt as if it would give me diabetes so I stopped drinking it. Yes I’m very picky but I love Mexican food when I can find it made correctly.

Overall I’m leaving 3 stars because the server was great, the food was fresh (especially the chicken), and the rice was good ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Upon entering the establishment it looks kind of dark inside but then you are welcomed to a cozy dining area. We were surprised to see how busy this place was. Patrons kept coming in during the time we were there. So we figured they must be doing something good here. Once our server came by he brought us some homemade chips & Salsa, which were so good we couldn't stop eating them. We ordered the Beef Fajita Quesadillas which came with a side salad, and the Tampiqueña which came with sizzling beef fajitas, two cheese enchiladas, one crispy beef tacos, spanish rice, refried beans, side salad, and choice of tortillas. I opted for the flour tortillas which were good in flavor but a little to thick gor my liking. I will say the food was nice & hot when served, had alot of flavor, and the service is great. The only disappointment to me was that a table in front of us had a gentleman, who decided to take off his shoes and eat barefooted. I don't know if anyone else noted this but not a good date to see when your eating.
