The Schooner Restaurant

We're from out of state. A landlocked State - that is Utah. The food was worthy of the high praise I read from other reviews. We got alligator and some jambalaya for our appetizer and blackened Zydeco for my main course. The food may have been a little high priced for my taste but that might have been just me. The big negative that we had was the server was most particularly not very good. We had to ask like 5 times for some things. And we waited a good 40 minutes for our boxes and check.

We went there for Mothers Day/grand nephews birthday dinner. The service and the food were both excellent, which is why the Schooner has been and continues to be one of the premier seafood restaurants in SE Texas. I never miss an opportunity to eat here.

We ordered a Captains Platter and jambalaya, which all if it was very tasty and filling! This was my first taste of jambalaya and I am hooked! I could eat that every day!! The waitress brought us a basket of little garlic flavored crunchy bread slices, almost like a flat crouton. I wish I could have tasted everything on the menu!!
The platter had plenty of seafood to share and we tasted crab three ways, scallops, fish, shrimp. It was all delicious.
My only regret I that I live ???? 900 miles away! With no ocean in sight.
Go. Devour. You won't be sorry.

I LOVE the food here! Always fresh. Always great taste. Extremely clean place. Wait staff is great. Bathrooms are clean also.

The Schooner Restaurant is a wonderful seafood restaurant with delicious entrees and outstanding service. From flavorful appetizers to authentic Cajun gumbo, and a wide variety of menu choices, everything our group ordered was excellent. Perfect for large groups, The Schooner bustles with activity, yet seems to handle the large crowds with ease. Joanna, our waitress, was amazing and provided first rate service with an amazing attitude and wonderful humor. Absolutely everything we ate was delicious. I highly recommend The Schooner!
