This location is one of my favorites. The staff was very welcoming and sociable. It has a cool feel to it. Menu is like a place in San Francisco I liked.
This week was our first time in Waco, Texas and also our first time to try Diamondback’s. We felt it would be similar to Salt Grass but it exceeds Salt Grass in every way (including the price.) I was a little shocked at the price of 2 extra shrimp on top of a New York Strip steak order. $11.99!!!!! My husbands order alone with one appetizer of two crab cakes, 12 oz steak with 2 shrimp and a drink was $86!!!!!!
If you want excellent food and amazing service then just be willing to stomach the price. From my salad to the last few bites of my Shrimp Tempura Roll it was all quite delicious.
Staff is exceptional. Food is amazing! Price... it’s overpriced. Shrimp is shrimp.
I wish we could remember our waiters name. He was soooo good.
The food was excellent and the restaurant was very clean and the atmosphere was very enjoyable for a rare date night with my husband. I don’t even mind that it was very pricey (I knew it was before even walking in). However, I was a little irritated with our waitress as we felt rushed. I think she had big plans for when she got off so she was ready for us to go. Don’t get me wrong, she was friendly enough, but ready for us to go. We could barely finish each part of our meal before she was there “cleaning it up and taking it away”. When you pay as much as you do for the food, I want to savor every bit of it. It is a rare treat for us. One of our favorite things is the popovers and butter with our salads. My husband finished his salad and before either of us could say anything, she grabbed up the rest of our popovers (sticking her thumb in his-preventing us from asking her to leave it) and the remaining butter. I guess because he was finished with his salad and the meal was coming out, we were both done with popovers and butter. I was pretty mad, but my husband asked me not to say anything to draw attention so I didn’t.
Interesting decor, friendly and very attentive staff.
The price point is slightly high in my opinion as the price is at the same level as 1718 prime steak in San Antonio. The steak was ok but not at the same level as that of 1718. So it begs the question on the price point.
The meat cut was of a lower quality and slightly over salted for my taste.
I would recommend giving it a try while staying in Waco as it was good and worth the visit.
