“This place is amazing. On top of the hood customer service, they actually did not have the oxtail I was looking for but they have beef short rib in the same sauce as their oxtail. I am so glad they ran out of oxtail. I don’t think I’ve ever had beef short rib as tender as that before. The Caribbean corn and Mac and cheese are amazing. We also ordered and split a turkey leg and it wasn’t your typical dried out turkey leg; this one was juicy and flavorful. Definitely a fan and returning.”

“Good place for tacos. Found this spot as part of the Food Zone. Working in the area it's not a lot of options. Finding Tacos La Abuela was a bonus. The first time i came, the service wasn't the best. It took about 15 mins to get my food and they weren't busy. The second time I visited, the wait was less than 5 mins. I attribute that to the older lady who was working. Some people know how to get orders in and out. Definitely recommend.”

Super rude staff, was told to "hurry up" when placing my order, wasn't "allowed" to order just Mac and cheese for my 1 year old. Wasn't given drinks for my food. Cashier did not offer a single pleasantry throughout the entire experience. Food flavor is amazing tho. They know what they have and they that's what they offer. No more no less. Expect the only good part of the experience to be the food.”

“1st time customer: Wife been wanting try place, we ordered some tacos 🌮 de barbacoa, quesobirra tacos, fajita gordita, torta de fajita. Tacos Barbacoa - delicious 8 out 10 Tacos quesobira- delicious 9 out of 10 Gordita fajitas - not really fajita it was different beef meat but overall give 8 out 10 Torta: bread was to much overwhelms it all, meat and beans had not flavor: 4 out 10 (not fan of torta here) The salsas were delicious, love the green one ☝🏼. Will attach pics of food to see. Overall will head back but no torta will stick to tacos and queosbirra tacos. Yum 😋”

“Honest review from a person who has expertise in eating out. The place was super clean, restrooms very clean as well, very friendly customer service. Now let’s talk about food. I got chicken combo. I can say plenty of food big plate served in a to go box for $12.99 with drink included not bad or fair price I would say. Hummus was just average I had to add sumac to make it tasty, pita bread was warm but not hot so got cold right away and you get one per plate only. Rice not really my favorite kinda think, the salad was really good with proper oils and dressing and the chicken was delicious and well seasoned. The peach tea and Lebanese tea deserve A+. My fair veredict for this place is a well deserved 4 star. My friend got the hamburger package for $12.50 I can’t comment on this just added a picture.”

“Very friendly staff! I went in on 1/17 around noon, the music was a little loud for me so i couldn’t eat at the restaurant. I got a burrito bowl with vegan chorizo and side of chips and queso. I live in the neighborhood across the street so the 5 min it took me to get home my bowl was entirely cold so i feel like it wasn’t very hot to begin with. Also disappointed in the amount of chips i got with my $4 side of queso. But the taste of all the food is super flavorful and delicious! Hope it gets better the longer this location is open!”

“Moving from ny I've tried several pupusas in texas. I have to say these are definitely the best in Houston. This food truck is family owned and everything is made from scratch. They take their time and make sure the food is always on point ! The food is loaded with flavor and they're reasonably priced as well. As for the people leaving bad reviews because of an address change dont let this stop you or turn you away from trying this amazing food. I will definitely be back again for the yuca and chicharones along with the pork and cheese pupusas!”

“Stopped by the Food Zone for lunch, but the place I wanted to go to was not open. Gave The Salty Helmet a try. The menu consist of chimichangas and macaroni and cheese. I ordered the Bleu Rooster, a buffalo and blue cheese chimichanga. It was good, but the blue cheese was overpowering. I love blue cheese, just a little too much was in it. Came with a side of beans. They were better than the chimichanga. My wife got the southern macaroni and cheese. That was really good. Wasn’t a bad runner up. The staff was really friendly. Only bad part of eating there they were out of corn. My first two choices on the menu had corn. I’ll be going back to try them though.”
