I’ve eaten here a few times and the food is good not great. Parking is tight and restaurant is dated.
Unfortunately if your not eating there the staff is not too friendly. Tired getting a bagel from next door and was run off by cypress grill staff for sitting in their out door seats. Didn’t think it would be an issue during the week in the morning. My bad. Your staff could have been nicer, seeing how your restaurant was empty.
A must visit. Great food. Excellent service. Don’t miss the eggs Benedict’s. The pot roast is to die for. Get the full portion for lunch because you won’t get your fill unless you do!!!
The food was really good. I had the skinny catfish minus the rice with broccoli. And I had a side salad with ranch. The catfish was good. The broccoli was very tasty, but not as steamed as I would have liked it; it was still crunchy. I didn't care for the salad. It was mixed greens (they were fresh), with matchstick carrots and cherry tomatoes. It wasn't terrible, but I need a little more flavor in it, like cheese or something. Otherwise, the catfish and broccoli were filling.
Always love going here! It can be a little snug/packed but that doesn't take away from the food. Great variety... of course there's excellent gumbo but I also love the French toast :) family friendly too.
The food is fantastic and exactly what you would expect from a prized Austin restaurant. The blackberry cobbler did not complement the meal well and had a bitter after taste, but it's a Cajun restaurant, not a bakery. I usually tried to go to restaurants around 3 in the afternoon so that I get the best service, what's this time the service was what you would expect around a major meal time. However, this could just be because of the popularity of the restaurant. I am not from Louisiana, but I have traveled to New Orleans on a handful of occasions and was blown away by the authenticity of this restaurant. I found that restaurants in New Orleans tend to cater towards tourists, however, this restaurant does not care where you're from.
