Cheddar's Scratch Kitchen

After years of passing up this Cheddar's, recently I gave it a try and became a regular: everything had changed to a better Cheddar's. Hosting staff, Michaela in particular: cheerful, friendly and remember my seating and server preferences! The food is better in part because served promptly while hot. Not all, but a significant part of the improvement is due to Abigail.

Amazing for what it is, a reasonably priced chain restaurant. The menu is expansive, ranging from staples like burgers and fried chicken, to soups, seafood and even a few vegetarian options. The food is much better than what you'd expect from a similarly priced chain like TGI Fridays or Chili's. I prefer the decor and atmosphere as well.

Go in with reasonable expectations and you won't be disappointed. Don't recommend taking a date here unless you're really cheap and want her to know it right off the bat or you've been married for 15 years and the romance is already dead.

Generally I love Cheddar's. It's the only chain restaurant that I recommend. I took out of town relatives to the Ben White location on a Wednesday night. They were practically empty so we were quickly seated. I had to subtract two stars (I considered subtracting 3 stars) because the service was horrible. The guy had to be brand new and had very little knowledge of the menu. We asked for salad dressings that were on the menu but he said they didn't serve them. It took 15 minutes to get our beverages from the bar. As usual, the food was good. We never saw him again after he dropped off the tab. We never got the to go box we requested.
