Wow after 25 year's the owner said he was tired. So now the store is closed for Good good by little restaurant????????????
Great place, good food. Friendly staff. I got a burrito and it was very good, priced slightly high, but not terribly so.
At first glance you'd probably think "Ummm, yeah...NO! I am not eating there!" Their sign and building are old and weathered, and paint is faded and is chipping off, in chunks, in places. And, the inside is a bit small, and leaves a little something to be desired. But, it is clean...especially the tables. It is a "mamma and pappa", "hole in the wall", the epitome of a "dive". They do have a big, shiny juke box.
But, first of all, their salsa and chips are delish! It is the best salsa, with the just the right amount of heat, without making your nose sweat.
Second, they have got THE BEST breakfast tacos I have had of any restaurant in Austin. I had potato, bacon, and egg in flour tortilla. My Son had chorizo con huevo (eggs). They were cooked and made to perfection. At $1.25 a taco, $1.50 after breakfast hours, you can't beat them. If they were any indication of what the rest of the food on their menu is like, I will definitely be coming back.
Third, their service is excellent, all around. Your ticket is hand written. How often do you see that, nowadays?
The only reason that I didn't give them five stars is because of their looks...because everything else is perfect. Don't let the looks deter you.
Good food and service good prices lv this places thanks for working on it
