Love this place. Something magical about being able to walk up to the tappers and pick any beer or wine you want, and pour as much as you want. Everyone who works here seems very friendly also. No shortage of outstanding beer options. Would like to see a couple more wine choices for the non-beer drinkers, but so far, I haven't heard any complaints about what they have.
Interesting concept. Pour your own beer and wine. They give you an RFID card that tallies up what you pour, by the ounce, then pay before you leave. Pour-your-own is great for pouring short beers and trying different ones. They have food - the salad and fries we ordered were quite good. The staff was super friendly. There's a decent playground with jungle gym outside. Only drawback - Cost per ounce adds up when you pour pints - it can get expensive compared to other Sunday afternoon beer spots.
I picked the place because of the playground and absolutely loved it. The food was great and they have a bunch of beers on tap. The interesting part is that you get a tab-card that you use at the taps to pay by the ounce. I was at lunch so I couldn't explore their selection but I love the idea of getting to try a beer without committing to a whole glass of it.
This bar seems cool because it is self serve and they have a pretty decent selection of local brews. Call me old fashioned but I don't work for free nor am I skilled at pouring all their beers. Why am I paying the same price or more and tip when I am serving myself. I honestly would rather have someone serve me after a long day. This just seems like a way to keep labor costs down. Also, why is there a mandatory 15% tip if I am doing the work serving? I realize the glasses need clean but what else am I missing? Instead of having a tip, the owner should pay the employees well and raise the price per ounce if necessary.
It is nice to have a bar in the neighborhood though. Just wish it wasn't self serve. There isn't a whole lot nearby.
Interesting concept and a good selection of Austin area craft beers to try. It would be really awesome if the selection could be expanded. There are so many good breweries in Austin.
System worked well, except for getting 'cut off' after buying 32 ounces -- I was sharing my card with a friend. That wasn't explained when I initially got the purchase card. Easily fixed by talking to a server though.
Good deal during Happy hour, 4-7PM M-Th -- $1 off pints and $1 off Apps.
I'll definitely be back. Good to see this in the area.
