You can get food at the counter and take it to go if the wait is too long. Covered outdoor seating in an interesting old building. Strawberry croissant had filling, and the cranberry scone was delicious.

The best breakfast in downtown Austin. Fancy place and also historic. First level service, friendly and awesome staff. The food is delicious, the portions are big and the price is competitive. Highly recommended!

I had one job: find my tech challenged parents a brunch place in a new city within walking distance. “It would be nice if they had cinnamon rolls”. Not exactly a filter item. BUT I WON THE MORNING with 1886. Everything was perfect from the atmosphere, delicious food and amazing service despite the bustling scene. Reasonably priced for the experience. We loved it so much we came back again a few days later and have recommended it to fellow travelers. If you don’t have time to sit, many of tremendous pastry items are available to go. And THE COFFEE was the stuff of heaven.

The food was good and the hotel is gorgeous with a lot of history. (Also possible haunted?) But I felt like the menu was a bit limited. They serve breakfast all day, but if you're looking for something small there were not many options besides soup or granola. Still, not bad. And good service.
