I love pizza. All kinds and all styles. I have lived in NYC - and theirs was the best. Until I moved to Austin and discovered Via313. It is simply the best pizza I have ever eaten.
And the management understands the benefit of really great service. I brought some coworkers to try Via313 for the first time. Our waitress asked if this was our first time, we said 'for most of us'. Now at most places, that is where it would have ended. But the manager came out about 5 minutes later with a plate of their cheese bread. A simple, low-cost gesture and they won 3 new customers for life. It probably didn't hurt that my coworkers said their pizza was the most amazing thing they've ever eaten. One way or another, they get it - and they deliver.
Went here for lunch on Easter Sunday. The pizza was awesome. Service was over the top. Manager stopped by to say hi and see how thing were. He brought us a free dessert as well. Let me tell ya, that was an awesome dessert. Had a great lunch here.
I've never had Detroit style pizza before, and it was amazing! The crust is decadent, crispy like pastry but airy like sourdough. It hardly matters what toppings you get, because with that crust everything is going to be good. We also had the Roasted Artichokes appetizer, which was delicious. The service was great too. Personally I don't like cafeteria style seating, but I get they they need to maximize on their small space. Overall I'm glad that this spot is so far away from us, or I'd be tempted to go back EVERY DAY!
I'm specifically sharing from the standpoint of gluten-free pizza. I haven't eaten at many gluten free Pizza making places in Austin, but via 313 is hands down the best gluten-free crust I've ever had in any city. It's got great texture, great mouth feel, and excellent flavor. I can't remember which pizza I got, but I think my wife got the Cadillac, and it was excellent.
This place was absolutely fantastic. The restaurant was clean and very cool looking. The staff was all extremely welcoming to me and my wife as first time customers as well. And the pizza was even better than all of this. I've never had Detroit style pizza before but I'm a believer now. We'll definitely be returning and recommend this place to every one.
