Whip My Soul

After seeing others rave about Whip My Soul, I put it on my "go here soon" list. Today was that day and the food and Antonio didn't disappoint!

Sample plate of pork chop, 1 wing and 1 fish with 2 sides is large enough to share with a dining buddy. Cheesy Mac and fries okra were our choices and both were superb! The pork chop was large, juicy & tender with a crispy crust. Loved the wing and fish too.

Southern egg roll was collard greens and bacon with a sweet chili sauce for dipping. I'm not a collard green fan but my dining buddy said she would order it again it was so good.

We had two desserts - peach cobbler and caramel cake. Delicious! Brought 1/2 of each home and had them for dinner.

Antonio made sure we had good service. Order at the counter, get your drink, find a table and wait ( short period of time) for your food to arrive.

Make sure to wear your stretchy pants for this one. This is hands down some of the best soul food in Austin! The fried chicken is better than any other spot I've tried. The sides are no slouch either. Greens and Mac and cheese to die for. Oh and dessert? Do yourself a favor and get some peach cobbler. You will definitely need a nap!

This is one of the best fast food places in Austin. If you like Southern food/soul food, this is your place. The fish, chicken wings, tenders, fish, collard greens, sweet potatoes, red beans and rice and both cornbread and rolls are melt in your mouth good and fresh. Get a sampler platter because I am sure everything is good. The owner and his wife are really nice and the wife is using her families recipes. I loved it all and I am a picky cook.

Wow! Where do I start? I found out about this place about a week ago, and I've been absolutely hooked! I've ordered their food three times in the last week! They serve the whole Wing, which I always prefer over flats and drums separately. The mac and cheese just might be the best I've had in this area. The greens are perfect. And honestly, I can say without question, the cornbread is hands-down the best cornbread in the city, and one of the best pieces of cornbread I've ever had in my life. Most cornbread is really dried out, but believe me when I say that this cornbread is borderline on the fence of being yellow pound cake. Moist, decadent, really nice sized pieces also. Whatever slightly sweet butter they use on top of it is straight from the heavens! I've tried a different mix of different menu items every time I have ordered, and you literally cannot go wrong if you order ANYTHING from this restaurant. I would give it 10 Stars if I could! Keep up the great work!!

When I heard a soul food place was opening up here I was extremely excited! Good soul food has been much needed in this area for a long long time. Today I went in and tried the wings, tenders, greens, cheesy mac, and peach cobbler. I was expecting good food but what I got was incredible, amazing, delicious food! Taste like grandmas homemade everything and the seasoning on the chicken already has me addicted. I will be eating here once a week guaranteed! Thank you "Whip My Soul" for bringing soul food to our area! Also, a clean and fun environment with an extremely friendly staff. Highly recommend.
