It seems like they focus more on fast service so in my opinion the food quality has suffered. To the point where I quit going back. “I just found out about this place from a co-worker and I am thankful for that. This little gem is fantastic. Everything we ordered ( Tempura green beans, shrimp basket, gumbo, crab stuffed shrimp and bread pudding ) was incredibly tasty and we will definitely be making the trip up there again. 5 STARS AND TWO THUMBS UP.”

“My husband and I come here regularly and we love the Boyd, TX location better than other sonic locations. Some employees give exceptional service, especially Felicity! She’s always super friendly, cares about giving you the best quality service and the best food. She also always ensures the order is correct which is going above and beyond what other locations do. I always like ordering a “secret” menu item called a Sonic Sunrise and there are a few girls, including Felicity, that make that drink excellent and give me suggestions on other awesome flavor options. “This is a self seating kind of place which I like. We were greeted when we came in and asked how many we had. We were with a big group (10+) and we're given an option to sit at a large enough table for everyone. Drink orders were taken and delivered promptly. Once we were ready to order the food we got the same great service. Prompt and courteous! This was our first visit to Mel's and it just so happened to be my birthday. Before we left for the evening our waitress told me she hoped I enjoyed the rest of my birthday. You don't get that most other places. My family and I will definitely be back at Mel's very soon!”

“The employees are friendly here. The food comes out fast, and hot. They have always gotten our order right on take-out, even when we’ve had a large order! We rarely go inside, but when we do, the place is clean, and there are two large TV screens. One minor flaw is the size of inside dining, as there seems to be less seating than other Taco Casa Restaurants. Overall, we love this TC!”
