Maddox Family Drive-In

Called ahead. (2:15) I was told that the 1 cheeseburger, 1 French fry and 1 shake would be ready at 2:40/2:45.
I arrived at 2:45 and it wasn't ready. I did not get my simple order to go... until 3:00pm. Basically they didn't start it til I arrived.
As for the food - I have been getting burgers there for 35 years. Nothing great, but never bad. The shakes are great. Homemade and often slow.

The Maddox drive-in is the best! I love that it's open year-round. The shakes are delicious. The girls that take and bring the orders are so nice and friendly. It's very busy but parking spaces open up quickly. We've been eating there at least once a week since moving here.

I have eaten at the restaurant a few times and always meant to try the drive in. Both places are super popular and have a bit of local nostalgia for people. I wasn't blown away with the quality in comparison with other drive-ins we have tried. we had the steak burger, and fried chicken. The steak burger was good but felt more like someone had just put montreal steak seasoning on a hamburger instead of an actually philly steak or cube steak like sandwich. While the chicken is claimed to be world famous ... you can make the same or better at home with some shake and bake. It wasn't bad but I find it hard to believe this chicken is world famous...
So over all probably a 5 star Drive-in but service is slow. Even at 11am they are jammed pack busy on weekends. I don't mind waiting this long at the restaurant, but I feel the Drive-in should have a quicker service.
Lastly, everything tasted of salt a bothersome over seasoning of it. I don't mind a salty french fry, but even the soda which I am sure didn't have any salt started tasting salty after eating the meal. So if you are a patient person and like salt this is probably a 5 star restaurant for you :)

Great service & great food. Tried the Buffalo Burger for the first time & it wax wonderful.
