    Fun retro theater with tasty ice cream! My kiddo described it as “the food of my dreams-the ultimate ice cream!” Everyone there was so friendly and helpful, and there’s a cool rock shop upstairs.

    Great food. Friendly staff. You gotta try the Jalapeno Cilantro Lime homemade ice cream.

    Update 2: I'll give new ownership the benefit of doubt and be back to give it another try. Welcome back!

    Update 1: 18 months later - We took the long way to our destination by driving through panguitch just to get another taste of Gem's homemade ice cream. Imagine our utter disappointment to find that new owners stopped making and selling their claim to fame.

    I don't want to see a movie. And I don't want any stinking soft serve ice cream. Apparently the good old days of a whole Apple pie getting mixed into the ice cream are gone, as are the days of the best ice cream flavor I've ever tasted (jalapeno-cilantro-lime).

    So long Panguitch, I guess there's no reason to drive through you again.

    This place was quaint, and for this History teacher/nerd I really liked it. People/employees were friendly, conversational, and congenial. It's not a big city production, and THAT'S why it's so nostalgically cool!

    Such a wonderful place! The family who runs it are the nicest people, the ice cream was delicious, and the popcorn is the best I've ever had a theater. The rock shop is super cool, and the old theater was great. I am so glad they were open today so we could experience this amazing place.

    Don't miss this beautiful historic theater with high-class hospitality, excellent tamales, and amazing ice cream featuring truly original flavors. The atmosphere and ambience is authentically from the Golden Age of Hollywood but the AV is entitely modern. Arrive early so you have plenty of time to get ice cream and checkout the game room and geology museum upstairs.

    Best of all everything is affordable. The Gem Theater is one of the few attractions in all of southern Utah where you won't have to pay tourism economy prices. It's not just the best night-life in Panguitch they are also open during the day. That way, even if you can't stay for a show, you can still get that ice cream! Also their restrooms are super-clean!

    Did I mention the ice cream is amazing?!
