Christmas time meal free on one day only. Excellent food served all year, call for open days, and service time
A gem. Food, service, and atmosphere all well above average. A delightful experience.
Fanciful drinks that are very good. The broccoli frutti was outstanding. Crunch and savory. The Mack, a hamburger was done perfectly and the French fries were excellent. We had been traveling all day so I chose a lighter item. Most food selections were upscale.
Mary's is out of the way, does not have scenic views of anything in particular, and is certainly more expensive than, say Al's French Frys in South Burlington. But even though it's about 40 minutes from our house down to Bristol just to get there (driving one way) it really is our go-to for special occasion dining or when we just really want a good meal served by staff who actually know what went into the food and can intelligently discuss it. We especially love the garlic soup (they sell it in quarts for take-home, which should tell you something) but to be honest, we've never had a bad meal there. They do have a full bar with quite a few house-designed cocktails, but neither my wife nor I are big drinkers so we haven't sampled many of them. The food, though, is outstanding and the ambience is quiet, intimate, relaxing, and comfortable. There's a reason why Mary's appears on many "What Absolutely Not To Miss When You Come To Vermont" lists.
