The Light Horse

Though a long time presence on King St, it is only since the reopen after renovations that I have been visiting regularly. Great cocktails, Shane is a fantastic barman, some lovely food options, and a lively crowd most evenings.

The review of this place really needs to be a two parts. Upstairs you have a pretty typical bar atmosphere. A few table games. Live music some days. Good fun and good friends. Not a lot different than most bars. Basic drinks. Basic bar food type. Good but nothing I would say is spectacular. The downstairs bar is a completely different place. Fresh new bar with different drinks. A lot quieter. Same food options but the ambiance is just so much better downstairs in the quiet bar.

Had a great time. Enjoyed the live ban upstairs. I would suggest the oldest looking bartender he makes the best drinks.

Light Horse is a favorite for happy hour among my co-workers. I have been several times over the past three years. They have very recently renovated their downstairs and it looks great. I can't speak much for their food. I don't think I've ever had anything besides their fries (which were tasty). However, it is a great location for a large happy hour. The upstairs is very open and the drink specials are solid.

A low key club in Old Town Alexandria. My friends and I have been going to this bar for years. It's so cool it doesn't need a name on the front! I only went for drinks, but the atmosphere reminded me why we went there all of the time when we we younger and didn't have to wake up with kids at 630 am. Great music with a DJ. Dance floor. Shuffleboard. Good stuff!
