Randolph's on the River

Peaceful atmosphere with a great view of the river and plantation on the far river bank. Lots of seafood options. Opted to try the broiled version of the platter- disappointed that we couldn't fry the crab cake and get the rest broiled. The crab cake didnt seem to be cooked all the way through and scallops seemed over cooked-slightly rubbery. The dessert of key lime pie was AMAZING!!!! It arrived as a small pie-great for sharing!! Overall a good place to eat with friendly staff.

We had been here before when it was River Haven, and the food and service were both pretty good then ... So we were anxious to try Randolph's. We went there today and arrived at about 3:40 pm for an early dinner. We were seated right away, but waited about 10 minutes before the person who seated us came back and said our waitress was training (the reason it was taking so long,) so she would take our order. We ordered the spiced shrimp for an appetizer, and it was FABULOUS! For dinner, I had the broiled crab cake sandwich with coleslaw and twice baked potato. My fiance had the Rockfish Reuben sandwich, hushpuppies and the twice baked potato. All of the food was really, really good! To me, the drawbacks were: slow to take our order initially, and the other issue was THE PRICING! I thought it was way overpriced ... Especially the drinks (wine/beer/cocktails were high and the reason I didn't order one) and only had water.

We ate there Sunday, February 10, 2019. Excellent wait service by Kayla. Older, but clean and comfortable seafood restaurant with a nice view of the Rappahannock River. We had the crab cake platter and a fried oyster platter. The food was really, really good. The crab cake was nice size and the taste was wonderful. The sides were also fine. The fried oysters were heavenly; lightly battered and fried perfectly. I was just one or two oysters short of the best plate of fried oysters I've ever had, and I come from Tidewater and seafood since I was a toddler. My, that was tasty food at Randolph's! I rate this restaurant at 4.5 of 5 stars. But if I had those two other oysters---5 stars strong it would have been.

Very fresh and good fish and seafood. Wait staff are very pleasant and their goal is customer satisfaction. We were told everything is made fresh there and from what we experienced, certainly would believe it.

Everything we had was extraordinary. Spiced shrimp, perfect. New York strip, perfect. Crab legs, perfect. Crab cake, perfect. All the sides, perfect. Key lime pie, perfect. Service, perfect. Stop here when you're taking the scenic route and enjoy.
