This place not only has incredible service, but the food is otherworldly good. They have such a great variety and the flavors in each dish are so well thought out you can taste the dedication to the craft. It is tradition southern cuisine, but experienced through an exceptionally exquisite preparation. They have vegetarian and vegan dishes also and their cocktails are strong and delicious.

The fried green tomatoes are amazing, the pork belly is amazing, the biscuits might be the best I have ever had, served with honey butter, apple butter and pepper jelly. We had the bison steak and it was rich and incredibly flavorful. The green beans they serve with it have the most unique, fresh flavor. The desserts make you want one of each, but I can vouch for the chocolate pecan pie, the lemon meringue pie and the banana pudding. I will say Mockingbird put itself in my top restaurants of Charlottesville for sure this evening. I highly recommend you give this new restaurant a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Also, shout out to our waiter Kieran. He was very personable and highly knowledgeable about the menu. His excitement over the food and excellent service definitely made the vibe for us. He had great recommendations and was on top of everything. Our order was taken smoothly and was based a lot on his recommendations, our food came out in a timely, well spaced out manner, was fresh and we had multiple people check up on us throughout the meal to make sure we had everything we needed and that we were enjoying it. This place is a five star restaurant with a five star staff in my opinion. Thank you all for a great evening and an amazing dinner!

By far one of favorite dining experiences in recent years! The staff was friendly and appropriately attentive and all of the food was fantastic. Started with the fried green tomatoes...crispy and tasty, loved the pimento cheese. The biscuit basket...delicious biscuits and I couldn't get enough of the honey butter, pepper jelly and apple butter. I had the pot roast, which was beautifully done. A very elevated and flavorful dish. The shrimp and grits and chicken and waffles also got rave reviews from my table mates. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back.

We dined with good friends on opening night, and were so delightfully surprised! The food is excellent : the pork belly appetizer was divine; shrimp and grits amazing, the biscuits - yum! The ambiance is creatively pleasing - love the moss-filled tapestry! Fun and fantastic specialty drinks and wine list selection . The service is top notch . A five star restaurant all around. A new favorite, for sure.

We finally got to eat at Mockingbird last night, and it was amazing! The food was so flavorful and fresh. I loved the shrimp and grits gumbo with fried okra, and the fried green tomatoes were insanely good! Definitely get dessert! I am having dreams about the bourbon pecan pie...OMG! The space is a really beautiful mix of swanky and inviting. Like you're visiting your trendy Aunt's place for cocktails. You can dress up or down and fit right in, and the service is so friendly and welcoming, as well as attentive. Our water glasses were never empty!

We so enjoyed our dinner at Mockingbird. I got the Front Porch Cooler cocktail and my husband was glad they had a domestic beer option. We both loved the Chicken & Waffles. The syrup had a fun kick to it. We ended with a hot cup of coffee and split the banana pudding in an adorable mason jar. We can’t wait to come back and try more items on the menu!
