This is the only quality sushi in Charottesville. It’s the best in town by a wide margin.
Great restaurant to visit on our way out of town. Staff was very friendly as well as helpful with what to order. We enjoyed our drinks and food. Would reccomend to anyone in the area who wants a good meal with a delightful atmosphere.
Ten tries a little too hard to be edgy and trendy, but the food is excellent. It's not going to be a low-cost experience, but the quality of both the raw materials and the preparation are top-notch.
The Ten Hamachi is a particularly excellent dish, though it might be enough to feed a very small person.
The lighting is low enough that your cell phone flashlight may be necessary for you to read the menu, and the music is definitely loud and annoying.
If I were 25 and with-it, it probably wouldn't bother me, but I'm neither, and it does.
But all of that said, the dinner was excellent. I'd just prefer it a bit quieter and less edgy, but that's just septuagenarian me.
Service is also very good, if a bit too obsequious.
Three stars because the sushi itself was fresh, everything else left little to desire. My husband made reservations for my birthday, we live an hour and a half away and we were looking forward to trying something different. Our waitress was not very friendly and good at offering recommendations when we asked.
The Omakase is definitely not Omakase just your regular sushi and sashimi platter. Not what I was expecting or I would have just order individual pieces. But the fish was fresh so three stars for that. The miss soup was very good. We ordered the 6 and 10 piece "Omakase" a miso soup, the variety wyagu skewers, and a sushi roll. For drinks we had a Sake flight, proseco, and a couple different beers.
It was ok, but labeling a meal as Omakase when it was far from it is very misleading.
My boyfriend and I came here about a year ago without a reservation while passing through Charlottesville. We decided to make a reservation and come back a year later for our anniversary! The food was amazing, and the waiter was very knowledgeable when we asked about the types of Sake served. We were also surprised with a lava cake and ice cream at the end of our dinner!
