Great food. Great atmosphere. Wonderful service. Went for lunch with friends and enjoyed it so much we went back a few days later. Suggestion, when you go... don't skip dessert.
My mother and I visited this restaurant 54 years ago on a trip to Williamsburg. I have thought about it all these years as it was a wonderful meal and experience. I visited again with my daughter yesterday and it was just as I remember. Food was excellent and service premier. It is worth a visit. A hidden gem.
Love this place! Full of history and ambience. Great food that begins with tiny cinnamon rolls and tiny lemon poppyseed muffins. What a welcome. Can't wait to go back!
My husband and I were accidental tourists; stopping by on our way home to Florida from a visit to Pennsylvania.
We had decided to drive back and take along overdue adventure together. We were traveling with no plan ... Just seeing the country on our way home.
We grew hungry and learned of The Half-Way House Restaurant through Google Maps. We stumbled in and were graciously welcomed. The ambience made us feel that we were back in time ... really charming. The place is an updated historic site, still operational after all these years.
The food was delightful and delicious. Every bite was thoughtfully crafted in an altogether pleasing dish. And the bread!!! We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals
While I may never get back there again ... I am truly grateful for the experience. Perhaps one day we will make it back.
Thank you for the wonderful experience.
The restaurant is like stepping back in time. You literally feel like you are dining in a room from the late 1700- early 1800s!!! A local recommended the place while we were visiting the area and I'm glad we did. It is pricy, but I'm sure maintaining the historical house is not cheap. The entrees were delicious and the dessert was okay. The waitress was very friendly and informative. The food was warm, but then again it was served from the kitchen located next to the house, like in the old days!
