Bombay Velvet

I think a lot of hate they're getting right now is undeserved. The place has an amazing atmosphere, great service and wonderful food. Yeah it costs more than the usual Indian lunch buffet, because it's better. I don't have unlimited amounts of butter chicken to gorge on, but I had an excellent lamb curry in a wonderfully decorated restaurant with a sociable and lovely waitress. Highly recommend it if you're looking for more upscale Indian affair.

A beautiful restaurant. Simply put - you do not want to miss this place. Stunning decor; intriguing music; top-notch service and staff...and the food? Exquisite. Bombay Velvet exceeds DC cuisine choices. Thank goodness the owners opened in VA because this is a regional champion restaurant.

Went twice within a week... loved the food and tried different dishes and wasn't disappointed at all by any... flavor, portion, presentation and the entire package is up to the mark. the service is awesome, they even adjusted the air for us. Will surely be a regular joint for us.

Bombay velvet is definitely a cool new approach to Indian cuisine. I especially loved the ambiance. However, service was not very fast and inviting. I also thought some dishes we ordered could have tasted more Indian with possibly more authentic spices and gravy. Overall this is a great unique spot however look forward to the potential improvements in the future.

I went here for lunch and it was delicious! My friend and I got different things and tried each others' food, and all the flavors were deep and satisfying. A lot of Indian restaurants serve a lot of the same types of food, but the food here was very unique to me! Also, for lunch they have a platter that allows you to try a lot of different food. It's not often that you get to have so much variety for lunch, so I really appreciated that!
The only downside was that the drapes were drawn, so it was very dark in there. It was really sunny when we went, so it was disorienting both going into and coming out of the restaurant. I think management should consider letting a little light in at least for lunch to combat that! Either way, the ambiance wasn't enough to affect my review!
I will definitely go back!
