Amazing in every way. The food is amazing especially the "Black Plate Special" which was the steak this week. The fries are very good as well. The service is amazing. I love looking at all the Police/Fire/Military memorabilia. PS: The steak should always be on the menu. The best thing, they gave us free blubbery cobbler.
The food is good. Nice atmosphere. The big problem I have with this chain is that they really play up their support for the military and first responders. They have pictures and plaques expressing their commitment to those who serve, but offer no discount like countless other restaurants (that do not play up their support) do.
This would not get mentioned if they didn't make it seem like we're heavily supported by them.
If you like BBQ, but are not overly patriotic, this place may not be for you. If you're not into stopping your meal to stand and salute the flag/national anthem (happens every day at noon) you may not want to get lunch here. This place is all about the military and first responders, and yes, they do deserve all the respect in the world for the service they perform. It's not the best BBQ I've ever had. It's not the worst. I'd come again for take out.
Fave BBQ in the area. Order the brisket (lean), cheesy potatoes, Cole slaw, and hand cut fries. Usually 6 to 8 sauces to choose from. Sweet tea and normal soft drinks avail. Oh and the people and decor are nice too.
The menu is a bit confusing for first timers. Also, the green beans contain chopped onion, which I didn't know until I ordered them. Because I'm sensitive to onions, I sent them back and swapped them for fries. It bugs me when major components of foods aren't listed. Had the menu said green beans with bacon and onion, I would have known to skip them. Also, the soda machine was a bit off. My husband's drink was largely syrup and mine was barely fizzy.
I had the pulled chicken sandwich, which was absolutely delicious, juicy, and flavorful. The fries are pretty top notch, too.
We tasted all 6 BBQ sauces and like the Smoky Mountain version best.
Also of note is that the ladies room is nicely decorated and kept clean. I didn't expect this pleasant surprise as most fast food places often ignore their bathrooms.
Overall, we will definitely be back!
