Wow! Great food, attentive service, stylish look. We thoroughly enjoyed every dish we had. The dry fried cauliflower was excellent (quite spicy), lots of Szechuan peppercorn. The bubble scallion pancake is fun and comes with a mild curry sauce. The duck spring rolls are all duck, as with everything fried at just the right temperature, perfectly crispy wrappers. We also enjoyed the pork with lotus root and the pan fried noodles. The cumin duck wings are very spicy, both ma and la. They're not meaty but that means you get plenty of spice coating the skin. Pan fried pork dumplings were very good as were the pork belly steamed buns. Service was just a little slow to start but the food came very quickly once we ordered. We'll be back, soon!

Excellent, and not just for a recently opened restaurant.

Some things on the menu will be immediately familiar to those who have eaten at Peter Chang's such as the scallion pancake or the dry-fried cauliflower (eggplant at the original). The food comes quickly from the kitchen and is just as good, if not better, than the food being served at Peter Chang's in Arlington.

Mama Chang's menu seems more varied. Fans of "hot and numbing" dishes will have lots of options, but dishes featuring fermented flavors and ingredients are also available here. The addition of small plates and the somewhat smaller appetizer portions is a smart addition. It's friendly to those eating out on a budget or for a quick bite, and makes sharing dishes easier. Even some of the dishes that don't jump out on the menu, like the farmer's stir fry, are subtle and surprisingly flavorful.

The space is open, modern, and cheerful. The service was attentive.

Overall, different enough to Peter Chang's that it's definitely worth visiting. And for me it edges out the Arlington Peter Chang's for availability of small plates, more attentive service, and a wider variety of dishes.

Just recently opened in early March 2019. One of numerous Peter Chang restaurants. The menu has many choices from small plates to family size dishes.

    We ordered:

    Suania Rice Noodles
    Pan Fried Noodles w/ Vegetables.
    Black Bone Chicken soup w/ginseng.
    Pan Fried Pork Dumplings
    Scallion Bubble Pancake

All was very delicious. Great service. Looking forward to a return visit to try other menu items.

Came here for opening weekend. Was very pleased with the quality of food, the atmosphere, and the friendly staff. We got the scallion bubble pancake, the fresh chili flounder fish, and the Chang's roast duck with bones. The bubble pancake was decent, the duck is good, and the fish is excellent. The skin of the duck could have been a little more crispy. The fish was perfect for someone who can tolerate the spice of the bird's eye chili, very flavorful. Note that the fried fish that the dish is served in is also edible (the bones are there but are very brittle). Overall great food and atmosphere for good prices. Will definitely go back.

Came for the soft launch thanks to a friend with connections. So much amazing, spicy food! Favorites were spicy flounder soup; stuffed tofu skins with shrimp and bamboo shoots; and sesame cakes. The best dish I tried was super spicy beef with glass noodles—tender beef, hot amazing sauce, and thin noodles to soak all up. Wonderful meal!
