We were there the day after New Year's but were surprised that we were the only people in the place. Food is excellent and the service was superb. A cozy, romantic dining room, decorated with art work from a local artist (who has beautiful work). One of ordered from the fixed price menu and the other from the main menu. We have both beef and fish dishes - all well prepared and delicious. The dessert was wonderful. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants a great meal in downtown Fredericksburg.
Went here on a date during restaurant week. It's a cute little French place that I DEFINITELY recommended having a reservation for. My date and I chose to order from the event menu, which was fun with the wine pairings. I highly recommend the coffee gelato with the red wine, yum! One of the reasons for 4 stars instead of 5 is they seemed very overwhelmed with the rush of restaurant week. The poor hostess was also trying to help the servers with their tables. Also, I'm not sure I'd return here- it wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. So maybe worth a try, but maybe not during restaurant week.
Very, very good food. The salmon dish was served over an outstanding risotto, with chewy components (mushrooms?) which was a perfect complement to the fish.
My wife had the blackened mahi mahi. It was also excellent. And my wife -- who cannot eat hot spice -- found it perfect for her palate.
Be forewarned, the salad we ordered was huge -- almost too much even when my wife and I split it.
To his credit, when we asked whether the salad was splittable, the waiter strongly encouraged it.
Excellent wine recommendation too. We had a glass each.
Overall a relatively low price -- under $90 with a healthy tip.
We've been going to La Petite for 20 years and they used to be the best place in town, and while they are still a great place to eat, I don't feel like it's as great as it used to be. My last visit was OK. Service was great, our server was attentive and helpful but not intrusive. The food was a tad on the bland side, scallops were a bit overcooked, just seems to have lost a bit of the previous wow factor. Maybe it was just an off night or something, but I'd still go again and recommend it.
