Castiglia's Italian Restaurant

We love to eat here. The food is fabulous. Some of the wait staff is younger and obviously newer to waiting tables but having been there before a long time ago it's fine. The bread we had on our last visit was the best we have very had it was so fresh and soft. The drinks are always good too.
Looking forward to the rooftop bar area to reopen soon so we can enjoy some evening up there soon.

Having just moved to this area from Naples Italy I was very excited to find a place which cooked Naples style brick oven pizza. While I do find that to be slightly disappointing (I've never had cornmeal dusted on a pizza in Naples, Italy) at least the brick oven and the mozzarella give me most of what I'm looking for. I've also had their chicken parmigiana, it is also good. It would be impossible to recreate the Bruschetta I've had with tomatoes grown on the slopes of Mt Vesuvius, still this too they do a good job on. Will certainly be back when I need my Italian fix for the evening. I'm sure the only reason I can't give them a five star review is due to my recent experience eating Italian foods cooked by the Nonna's all around me in Italy. ... update March 2019 ... We've eaten there a few more times since my initial review. Either the cornmeal dust was a fluke or they've changed that as we've not had that experience again since our first time. This means the brick oven pizza's are as close to true Neapolitan pizza you're going to get this side of the Mediterranean. Delicious! Very authentic! The only thing on their menu we've had so far I won' recommend is the Mozzarella sticks. I believe this to also be due to my experiences in Italy; having had real fried buffalo mozzarella there simply isn't a comparison. The breading on the mozzarella sticks also has a very overpowering flavor of what I think is Oregano. I'm simply not a fan of it or them. That's fine, there are plenty of other items on the menu to satisfy my Italian cravings.

Wow! We had heard from several friends about how phenomenal this place was. They were not lying. Prices are super low! The portions are GIGANTIC! I am not exaggerating when I say GIGANTIC. I literally had three meals from my chicken parmigiana meal. My brother had two meals from his lasagna. The bread was also amazing. Can’t say enough about this place. Was well worth the drive. We are ready to go again!!

The food, atmosphere, drinks and service are all wonderful. We went a bit later in the evening and the crowd began to gather. There was great music and dancing. We ended up staying till after midnight. We had fun and will definitely repeat with another visit soon. One of the best places in Fredericksburg.

Great local Italian place with a welcoming atmosphere. Clean floors, tables, and bathrooms. Prices are very comparable to chain restaurants but taste much better. Staff were quite friendly and helpful making recommendations. The new rooftop eating area is a great addition.
