Tommy's Restaurant

There's always a line at Tommy's, and for a good reason. It's THE breakfast spot to go to. I've been going there over a decade, and I've always had sterling service and large, tasty portions at a great price. It's everything a diner should be, but it does close at 3.

Visit Tommy's and you are in for a glorious experience! This place, so reminiscent of diners in the past, tends to be jam-packed with those seeking breakfast and lunch. The staff here is marvelous in how they deal with the onslaught of so many hungry patrons.

The atmosphere is down-home and so very friendly. The minute you walk in the door you are literally treated like family!

The portions of what you order are huge - better be hungry when you eat at Tommy's. The servers never fail to take good care of you.

It's a one-of-a-kind establishment where you can't help that you've come home for a meal.

Tommy's only accepts cash for payment should you visit.

Our party of four ate at Tommy's Restaurant twice during our recent visit to Hampton, Virginia. The food was fantastic both times. I had catfish on each visit. The portions were large and cooked to perfection. I had grits and mixed greens on the second visit which were perfect. I must add that the mashed potatoes, which I had on my first visit, are missing something as they are bland. The hush puppies are excellent, too. All of us were well pleased which is why we visited twice.

What's not to like. I really like this restaurant. It has a homey welcome feeling and the waitresses are friendly and professional. Often standing room only, but they have sufficient staff to make the line move quickly. You might thing with that, you are rushed in eating and getting out, but not so. There are plenty of seats that one can take their time eating and having a real conversation. The biscuits are great.
