Amazing food in the middle of small town USA! I had the Veal Wellington and my wife had the bouillabaisse both were delicious! Service was awesome, overall excellent evening for our 33rd Anniversary!
We had the pleasure of dining at Restaurant Rochambeau tonight. We have eaten here multiple times but when it was Pomme. I was cautiously optimistic when we arrived. I was unprepared for the amazing evening we had. The service was fabulous but the food was incredible. Chef prepared the filet, the lamb and the bouillabaisse for our table. Each dish was better than the next. My bouillabaisse was sublime. After dinner we enjoyed the creme brulee and then Chef brought out a delightful chocolate mousse with star anise. I normally don’t eat dessert but this was amazing. Kaylee and Colleen took amazing care of us. We enjoyed it so much we will be back Sunday for brunch!
Best meal in a long long time! 36 ounce bone in Rib-eye special for two was to die for! Cream filled crepes for dessert were the bomb! Definitely coming back every time we visit our son in Charlottesville!
I have had this place on my “restaurant bucket list” for over a year, and was so excited to make this visit happen. We traveled a couple hours along the Shenandoah National Park to get here, and showed up around 6pm for dinner. My wife and I have had a few years of French, so it was fun reviewing the menu which was mostly written in French (with English descriptions). My wife and I choose two different daily specials and my daughter ordered off the menu. Most menu options run $25-40, with a few cheaper salad options.
Restaurant is conveniently located in town and has lovely décor. The waitress was very young, but super nice. To be honest she went above and beyond during our visit. The owner stopped by for a meal while we was there and took the time to explain the restaurant name to the table beside us.
The food looked amazing, but I personally did not feel the quality or volume of food did NOT matched the price. To be honest, we left the restaurant and went up the road to order dessert from another establishment.
The waitress made the comment they had a new French chef, so maybe we schedule our visit on a bad day. The presentation was nice, but that’s about it. I feel this place has so much to offer, but falls short on the one thing they are supposed to excel at.
Beautiful atmosphere, delicious food. This is a quiet, cozy restaurant that makes you forget about the outside world for a while. You stop through the doors and into a different time and place. One of my favorite all time stops when traveling to the mountains.
