I love this little place. They make sub sandwiches and are very friendly. They make the neighborhood feel homey.
I've been going there for years, I've never had a bad experience. My favorite thing on there menu is a BLT with a fryed egg.
We have lived in Haymarket for a while and have heard great things about Evergreen Deli. People swear by it and we were hoping it would be that ”hole in the wall” place that we would fall in love with. We got a few Subs and some mozzarella sticks. The mozzarella sticks were pretty good. They offer S, M, and L sizes which is pretty cool. They were fried to perfection and the cheese was gooey. Only complaint is that the marinara is served cold and we got one small container for a medium order which was not nearly enough. The subs were okay. The bread was average and the meats were adequate. We got a Godfather which had plenty of meat. The steak and cheese was good but over-seasoned with pepper. The store itself was neat. It is an old country store with random stuff. I am sure we will be back at some point. Just not a place that we would go out of the way for.
Stopped for diesel on the way to work. My coworker grabbed a breakfast burrito so I followed suit. Pleasantly surprised with the quality and taste. Not too pricey either. I saw a bunch of homemade goods that were interesting as well. Seems like a nice local shop. The cashier was cheerful too. I will most likely stop by for the breakfast croissant next time I'm passing through.
A hidden jewel. Friendly service, and an incredible selection of sodas, Amish candies, and a first class deli.
Their steak and cheese uses real steak. I've watched them prepare it for the next day- huge slabs of prime beef, cut into strips, and cooked on the grill.
So much better than the processed crud you'll find at places named after a form of mass transit, if you know what I mean.
I recently went to Philly, and ate a steak and cheese at Sonny's, one of the homes of the sandwich... I liked their sandwich, but I think Evergreen's is better.
